Although Joe Maddon receives a lot of the blame, it is hard to be better than last year when the biggest offseason acquisition is Daniel Descalso, who has struggled all year long. Full Story »

Agree with most of what you said. Epstein and Maddon both deserve blame for team's demise.
Epstein for bad trades , Kimbrel for example, and Maddon for poor handling of pitchers. Example: kept pitching and blowing games with Kimbrel, but refusing to pitch a hot Chatwood.
Left some starting pitchers in too long, used ineffective relief pitchers when better ones were available....too many times, kept pulling relief pitchers after only facing one batter, etc.

Best record in baseball from 2015 through last season. As many World Series Championships as any team during that time. Enough run differential to be leading the division this season. Maddon managed the team to less wins than they should have.
